More About

George Seaton lives and writes in the Colorado mountains. He shares his life with his husband, David, and their Alaskan malamute, Kuma (“Bear” in Japanese). His lifelong love of Colorado—both the magnificent land and the critters that inhabit it—is the subject matter of most of his writing. He earned a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Colorado. He is an Army veteran--an experience that touches much of his storytelling.

He was first published in 2009, and his novels, novellas, and short stories have all centered on the interactions of people intent on finding the best path through life, where love is usually the healing salve that makes the journey worthwhile. His stories reflect the conflicts in life that we all must overcome in our search for that place where our hearts tell us peace resides.

His photography reflects those precious moments of life that cannot be adequately described in words.

On Writing

Most writers have been doing it all their lives or, at least, ever since they can remember. I’m no different. And, some writers do it better than others.

I write because I breathe. Perhaps a trite notion, but nevertheless true. It’s what I do and have always done. It’s as necessary to my life as, yes, breathing, eating, laughing, loving, and grieving. Not writing is an impossible proposition to consider.

I don’t think my writing fits neatly into established genres. I do cross lines with all of my storytelling, usually relying upon a literary bent to bring everything together. Some of my storytelling includes descriptions of same-sex lovemaking, magic, shifters, ordinary people working hard to know themselves, and understand those they love. I write what I know and imagine. Experience and imagination are, I believe, the most constant muses. And, as every writer knows, we never forsake our muses.

On Photography

I became an enthusiastic amateur photographer not long ago. And, after moving to the Colorado Mountains, I have seen the essential worth of capturing the precious images that reveal themselves up here. I think I love photography because mere words fail to describe what I see; adjectives and adverbs become inadequate.
